North American Society for Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity.
The purpose of NASPSPA is to develop and advance the study of Motor Behavior (development, learning, and control) and Sport and Exercise Psychology.
Membership in NASPSPA is open to anyone who is interested in Motor Behavior and/or Sport and Exercise Psychology and who pays their annual membership dues. NASPSPA has approximately 400 members (most are from Canada and the United States, but with representation worldwide). Approximately 50% of the members are graduate students in the field of Kinesiology.
The officers of NASPSPA make up the Executive Committee and include a President, a President-Elect, the immediate Past-President, a Secretary-Treasurer, a Communication Director, and a Student Representative. The Past-President’s Liaison also serves on the Executive Committee as an ex-officio member. All members are eligible to serve as officers in NASPSPA.
NASPSPA hosts an annual meeting which is typically held in the spring. The meeting provides an opportunity for the presentation of research, interactions amongst scholars, professionals, and students, the provision of continuing education events, and Executive Committee and Business Meetings.
NASPSPA gives awards to scholars in recognition of contributions to research areas represented within NASPSPA and in recognition of significant contributions to the development and growth of NASPSPA. NASPSPA also provides awards to students in recognition of meritorious research, to support proposed research, and to encourage international research experiences.
